I am a global health consultant, public health specialist, researcher and nurse, with 40 years experience in health care, health professional education and health system strengthening with governments, univerisities, charities and health service providers. I am a Visiting Professor in the UK, an academic partner in nursing programme development in Rwanda and an International Gates Foundation Sustainable Development Goals (SDG) Goalkeeper. This is an honour awarded to SDG activists who strive to work at the edges of organsiations, developing evidence and disrupting thinking so that we may deliver the SDGs. I work with the 200 other Gates Foundation Goalkeepers during the annual United Nations General Assembly to create the evidence and energy needed to acheive the SDGs, not just those seen as related to health. Nurses are involved in all of the SDGs, we are just not seen. I am currently writing the curriculum content for many education programmes including an MBA in Global Health that aims to transform healthcare leadership, an educational package (the I'm Fine Project) that support nurses wellbeing and Quality Improvement training programmes across Africa improve quality of healthcare. I am also leading on an international programme addressing gender inequality through the use of art. As an academic I aim to combine critical theory, feminist theory and nursing theories together to inform new ways of knowing in nursing.
