Joseph F. Pendon PhD MSN RN
Dr Pendon PhD MSN BSN BA RN is a nurse leader and researcher with the Los Angeles County Department of Health Services. He received his PhD from The University of Sydney, specialising in lived-experience research (Phenomenology/Ontology). Having worked for Safety-Net health systems for over 30 years serving the most vulnerable population in the United States and Australia, Dr. Pendon is skilled in integrating his clinical knowledge with healthcare leadership, Improvement Science and professional development. He is passionate about research and innovation to improve the healthcare of marginalised populations. In addition to leading the formation for a Nurse Leadership and Scholars Academy, he is currently the principle investigator of several nursing research studies in the areas of: 1) Innovations in Nursing Models of Care, 2) Goal Attainment and Person Centred Care and 3) Nurse Empowerment.
