Patricia H. Strachan RN BScN MSc PhD
Patricia is an Associate Professor in the School of Nursing at McMaster University in Hamilton, Ontario, Canada. Following completion of a Post-Doctoral Research Fellowship with the Heart and Stroke Foundation of Ontario, she has served on international, national and regional initiatives to improve communication with patients living with advanced illness. Her research and scholarship broadly address communication issues regarding integration of a palliative approach to patients with progressive life-limiting illness, specifically chronic heart failure. Research about patient, family and nurse experiences have informed her focus on development, support and optimization of nurses’ capacity for meaningful conversations in serious illness contexts.
