Completed his PhD in Nursing from the University of Ottawa in 2021. In his doctorate thesis titled “economization of home care in Ontario: A critical ethnography of nursing actions” Dr. Al-Chami established the foundation for a critical theory of nursing action that confronts managerialism and redefines care based on the socio-political struggle to recognize the human identity of the patient.
Experience:
More than 20 years of experience in both clinical and academic nursing.
Former Chairperson of In-Service Education Department at Makassed Hospital in Beirut, and
Lecturer at the Institutes of Nursing in Dubai.
Present: Postdoctoral Research Fellow with Dr. Wendy Gifford at The University of Ottawa.
Research interests:
Socio-political context of healthcare, development of nursing professional knowledge and Health equity in Indigenous communities.
